A new vision for Tulse Hill

Tulse Hill needs change. It’s a chance to open up more options for our vibrant community that is held back by a traffic system designed for a different era. For too long, the area has been dominated by fast-moving traffic, creating a barrier that divides our community, makes our streets unsafe, and diminishes the character that makes our area special.

Time for change

The Tulse Hill gyratory is fundamentally broken. Since 2010, hundreds have been injured and three people have been killed here, making it one of South London’s most dangerous junctions. For too long, this 1960s road system has prioritised fast-moving traffic with as many as four traffic lanes at some points, creating a barrier that divides our community and puts lives at risk.

Improve safety

A new system with safer crossings and better facilities for cyclists, pedestrians and drivers will make our streets safer for everyone.

Enhance the public realm

We can transform the area by reducing the dominance of cars, allowing for more greenery, cycle parking, public seating, greenery, and a true high street feel.

Support local businesses

A pedestrian-friendly town centre will boost the local economy and reverse inactivity and dereliction around the gyratory.

Foster community

We'll knit our community back together by replacing physical and psychological barriers with public spaces where people want to linger and socialise.

Improve air quality

Reducing congestion will lead to cleaner air, contributing to a healthier environment for all, and encourage more walking and cycling.
