We’re one step closer to safer streets in Tulse Hill for everyone. Following incredible community support, our petition now stands at 1,616 signatures. This is fantastic news, and a huge thank you to everyone who’s signed and shared it so far.
We’ve agreed an updated date for when the Assembly Member for Lambeth and Southwark will submit our petition to Sadiq Khan via the London Assembly – Tuesday 6th October. So our new target is 2,500 signatures.
Why it matters?
Transport for London’s (TfL) own data shows Lambeth has the highest number of people killed or seriously injured on TfL’s road network of any London borough. At Tulse Hill, sadly, three people have been killed — two pedestrians and a motorcyclist — and hundreds more hit and injured since 2013. This isn’t an isolated problem. It’s a pattern, and it’s why we’re asking the Mayor and TfL to treat this junction as the road safety priority it is.
Whilst there’s been good progress recently, TfL has told us it now sees transformation of the gyratory as a project that “could be a long-term goal, for example in twenty or more years” and appears to be no longer committed to it as a firm goal. There is no funding currently in place to carry out engagement with the local community to inform any future design or planning work.
